In July “Avedis” Choir participated in the
“5th World Choir Games” in Graz, Austria and won
3 GOLD MEDALS performing in
3 catIegories: Musica Sacra, Mixed Chamber Choir, and became a
CHAMPION in Contemporary Music. There were
20.000 participants, 443 choirs from 93 countries. We thank God that trough our successes the Armenian flag was raised and the Armenian hymn was sang and we were able to bring honor to our new independent republic. For the coming year Niery is invited to perform as a jury.
In May 24, 2008 “Avedis” Choir participated in XXVII International "Orthodox Church Music Festival" in Poland, Bialystok, where the choir received the Second Prize among 24 choirs from 18 countries. While we were there we also sang in Catholic Church in Krakow, the Baptist Evangelical Church in Bialystok, outdoor concert in Krakow and in the Lutheran Church.
A special film was made about this trip and was shown to our church, government officials and to the public.
We do not only contribute our success to our hard work and devotion, but we give the glory to the Lord: “Not by might, nor by power, but through my spirit”, says the Lord (Zech. 4:6)
Beside the competition we were invited to give 3 other concerts in Graz region.
